Big Peach Running Co. will soon open its first Black-owned store.
The Georgia-based specialty run retailer has announced in its newsletter that its new door will be located in South Fulton, a city in the Atlanta metropolitan area. It will be owned by Ric and Dawn Ross, who are locals.
The store will be located at 5829 Campbellton Rd. in the Sandtown Crossing development, and Big Peach Running Co. confirmed in its newsletter that it will open late in Q4.
“As residents ourselves, Dawn and I are thrilled to open the first Black-owned store for Big Peach Running Co. in our hometown of South Fulton,” Ric Ross, the store’s co-owner, said in a statement. “We will be passionately bringing quality service, education and expertise on running shoes, apparel and wellness to our community. This is more than a store — it’s an opportunity to empower the Black community and all of our guests with the knowledge and tools to pursue a healthier lifestyle through running.”
In its newsletter, Big Peach Running Co. stated Ric Ross — a music industry veteran with a resume that includes Atlantic Records, Capitol Records and a company he founded, Music Education Group Inc. — has been a guest since it opened its first location in 2004.
What’s more, according to his LinkedIn, Ric Ross, who the retailer stated has been passionate about running since high school when he was on the cross-country team, is the owner of Bold Running Club Apparel, a brand that offers high-quality activewear and athleisure lifestyle clothing.
Big Peach Running Co. said it will announced details on a grand opening announcement later this year.
